Truss Chair
An experimental project for the VÆRKTØJ platform.
VÆRKTØJ (Danish for tool) explores a single tool/process and asks contemporary designers to explore its function and develop a product.
In this case the tool was a hydraulic press. I started to play with crushing the ends of aluminum tubing to form connection points for lightweight rigid structures.
This is a common approach in low cost modular architectural elements. Particularly space frames and Geodesic Domes.
Simple, strong, light and economic it makes an interesting structure to support furniture.
